MOGADISHU, Somalia - At least four Somali civilians have been confirmed dead in a mortar shelling that took place at midnight in the vicinity of Mogadishu airport which is protected by AU troops.

There are several other victims wounded in the midnight bombardment, who had been hospitalized in the city. The mortar shelling coincides with a complex attack at Hayat hotel in the KM4 junction.
No group has claimed responsibility for the shelling but Al-Shabaab has taken the credit for the hotel raid which is still underway with the security forces attempting to kill the attackers inside.
