LONDON - A prominent journalist who has long served with the BBC and Somali State Media succumbed to COVID-19 in London on Wednesday after 16 days in bed. He passed away at 66.

Ahmed Abdinur tested positive for coronavirus days ago breathed his last in the UK, where one in 50 people COVID-19 and one in 30 in London, per estimates, based on the latest data.

The journalist worked with the BBC Somali Service since 1996 before his recent retirement.

The shocking death of the highly skilled broadcaster has been described as a great loss to the Somali media fraternity.
