In recent days, the operations on the border between Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud regions have been making gains with officials saying Al-Shabaab will no longer hold any area in Somalia.

The wall, which is known as the Kenya-Somalia border securitisation project is among others meant to secure the country from attacks by the Somalia-based al Shabaab terrorists.

Meanwhile, al-Shabab has imposed restrictions on workers and vehicles of Somalia’s largest telecommunications company, military officials said on Tuesday.

The visiting delegations are set to hold talks with his Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, along with other top government officials at Villa Somalia. The aim of their visit remains unclear.

The US has provided ongoing support to the Somali government since President Joe Biden approved in May a Pentagon request to redeploy US troops to the area in an attempt to counter the terrorist group.  

The high-level talks come amid Al-Shabaab threat and devastating drought that affected half of the country's 15 million population.
