Somalia's state media didn't report on Farmaajo's travel to Doha amid division and fallout with the prime minister of the country Mohamed Hussein Roble whose office is controlling the broadcast.

According to the office of the PM, Roble jetted off to the Gulf country after receiving an invitation to visit Abu Dhabi amid election turmoil in Somalia and a bitter feud between him and President Farmajo.

Yasin, who is Qatar’s man in Somalia travels frequently to Doha as he tries to continue his influence in Mogadishu. He is currently serving as national security advisor to Farmajo.

Qatar sent the cash to support Farmajo’s re-election campaign and buy votes of the MPs during the presidential ballot which he will face stiff competition from heavyweight candidates in the tough race.

Qatar has had an influence in the Farmajo administration for the past 4 years after funding the president's election campaign in early 2017.

Roble who assumed power last year is undertaking his first official visit to Doha at the invitation of Qatar's emir, according to multiple sources. 

The PM is now in Cairo for a two-day visit to Egypt, where he is holding top leaders, including president El-Sisi.

The youths estimated between 5,000-7,000 were recruited from different parts of Somalia and sent to Eritrea, one of the world’s most secretive countries.

The outgoing president Farmajo won the 2017 election after receiving millions of US dollars from Qatar through Fahad Yasin, a former Al Jazeera journalist currently serving as spy head.
